- Why standardisation is so important
Standardisation ensures that the extract always contains exactly the same amount of pharmacological active substances - a basic requirement for a constant effect of the finished product and for clinical studies.
The extraction method is a crucial factor for the composition of the extract. In extracts produced by different extraction methods different compounds may be present in varying concentrations. Thus, the pharmacological activity of an extract mainly depends on the extraction method used.
When choosing a herbal supplement brand, remember that you are buying an extract, not a plant. A common misperception is that all products containing the same plant must be the same.
Consider, for example, the winemaking process. A wine produced by a company on the east side of a hill might taste dramatically different from one produced by another company on the west side of the same hill. The same potential holds true for herbal medicinal products. Many variables can change according to growing conditions, harvesting and manufacturing differences. In order to control for these variables, the extract contained in Pharmaton® Vitality is standardised according to a high quality process.
What can we do to avoid the problems of inconsistent extracts? Simple. Buy a brand such as Pharmaton® Vitality, which is manufactured using the standardised Ginseng extract G115®, prepared according to strict guidelines to ensure exact standardisation. You can be assured that the product you take is the same as the one tested in several clinical studies. Pharmaton® Vitality contains the most clinically tested Ginseng extract in the world and has proven safety and efficacy - do not accept substitutes!
- Standardisation begins with cultivation
To ensure that Pharmaton® Vitality’s high quality standards are always maintained, the cultivation of Ginseng is regularly controlled by Pharmaton® Vitality’s experts.
- Selection of the raw material
The Ginseng roots of appropriate age are carefully cleaned and dried in a natural way, and undergo physical and organoleptic controls. The individual ginsenosides in the roots are identified and measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
- Analysis
The roots undergo complete physical, chemical and microbiological analysis before they are released for extraction and standardisation.
- Extraction method
The extraction process developed by Pharmaton® Vitality is known only to the company and is ideal for extracting all medicinally relevant components from the plant. The extraction is performed using a hydroalcoholic solvent (ethanol/water).
- Concentration and sterilisation
The liquid extract is concentrated and sterilised (UHT treatment), then the dry native extract is prepared by spray-drying.
- Quality Controls
Before the dry native extract is released for standardisation, the individual ginsenoside content is measured and checked for quality. Furthermore, the extract undergoes through physical, chemical and microbiological controls.
- Standardisation
Standardisation: the total content of ginsenosides is adjusted to 4%. The standardised G115® Ginseng extract is born!
- Final Controls
Complete quality controls of the standardised G115® Ginseng extract. Release for production. Quality controls of the finished products containing G115®.
